Making Money From Article Directories

Making Money with Articles: Article Directories

Article directories are websites that house free articles. These articles are usually put there by whoever owns the copyright to them as a promotion method. Each article has the owners byline placed under it so that those who eventually read the article will know who wrote it (or at least who owns it) and will be able to get in contact with or visit their website for further information.

Articles directories are a great place to put your articles so that they will make you money. By using this method, people who are interested in your product or service will see your article, view you as an expert in the subject, and will visit your website. Even if you cannot write or do not have any knowledge on the subject on which you are promoting (for example for you run an affiliate website), you can always hire a writer to do the work for you. Getting quality articles written will be expensive up front, but they will pay for themselves in no time, either through affiliate sales or selling your own services, and everything from then on is pure profit.

Let’s take a real life example. Imagine that you are an accountant working from home. You write an article on an accounting topic and place it on various article directories. Those who are looking for the subject you wrote about will read your article, see that you have the knowledge and skill that is needed to do a job for them, and visit your website or contact you via e-mail. Your article just gained you a new client who may use your services regularly, but will definitely give you a nice profit at least once.

Furthermore, since you have posted it on a free article directory, others who have affiliate websites about accounting will inevitably use your article for their website. Since they must attach your byline to it, this will bring you even more exposure for every website that re-posts your article. This because you will be benefiting of off the traffic that they get to their website.

There are numerous article directories out there for you to utilize. Your bet best is to put a copy of each of your articles on every one for maximum exposure. It will eventually help to bring more traffic and customers to your website, which will lead to new orders and more profit.

The Biggest Free PLR Content Site With Absolutely Everything

Well
as you guys no doubt know, to really succeed with our internet
marketing careers, we need to have great digital products that convert
all of our qualified leads into real, cash-paying customers.  For many
people, coming up with products will involve them creating them on their
own, or it may involve them commissioning other professionals to do the
 hard work for them.

Chances are though, like most smart internet marketers, you probably
want to save a whole lot of time and money.  After all, if you were to
create your own e-book for instance, expect to spend tens of hours doing
the research you need, and then writing the book itself – and that's if
you're only semi-decent at writing.  If you're a good writer, it will
still take you hours and hours and if you're terrible, well, forget it,
because your e-book won't sell!

Now, you certainly won't go wrong by hiring a good writer to create a
really good e-book, but think about how much a good writer is going to
cost you.  Wouldn't you rather spend that money on getting visitors to
your site so you can make more money?

I'm pretty sure, like me, you're always looking for ways to save time
and money on your internet marketing business.  I'll easily spend hours
each week just reading up on the latest internet marketing happenings
and news, in the endless search of improving the way I do business.  In
my latest search, I came across a really unique website, that's well
worth you checking out if you are serious about time and money saving:

http://lead4dollar.com/PrivateLabelRights

Now the name is pretty self-explanatory.  This site was created by an
internet marketer for internet marketers, and it's a one-stop shop for
PLR material.  E-books, reports, training videos, e-courses – you name
it!

The really wonderful thing about this site though is that membership is
free.  You can sign up as a VIP Member, which won't cost you a cent, and
you can download a huge amount of PLR material for free!

You can sell that material yourself as part of your own internet
marketing business, and of course, you can change any part of the
product to suit your target audience.

Don't be put off by the free part either, in terms of the quality of the
material that's on offer, because I've downloaded the free PLR stuff
myself and it's of a really high quality.

I've paid plenty of writers in my time to create digital products, and I
can honestly say that the quality of this material is just as good, if
not better – without me having to pay the money I would pay a writer.

In addition to the free PLR material you can download as VIP Member, you
can also access heaps of great information about how to improve your
internet marketing business.

You also have the option of paying a small one-time fee to become a Full
Member of the site, and that will entitle you to even more fantastic
PLR products to download and sell, plus you can become an affiliate of
the PLR Wholesaler website itself, and receive a great commission
whenever somebody you refer signs up as a Full Member.

Regardless of whether you're a paying member or not, you will have
access to a regular e-newsletter that gets sent out, and if the
testimonials are anything to go by, it's definitely one e-newsletter
that's worth your while.

I can vouch for that too, and I am a real pro when it comes to deleting
emails that bore me!

So, please do me a favor and join now – this is a site that's definitely
worth your time regardless of your level of experience in internet
marketing, so visit it now at:

I promise you won't be disappointed.

Finally - A Proven Way To Make Money Online

The
Butterfly Manuscript Is All You Need
Butterfly Marketing proves to be just as powerful in strategies then in
the software itself. Below you will find a student and customer of the
course.
Michael Cheney of "Adsense Videos" applied the the pre-launch
strategies and affiliate tools and JV strategies outlined in Mike
Filsaime's Butterfly Marketing Manuscript to the his launch. Here is
what Michael Cheney had to say about what he learned in the Manuscript:
------------------------------------------------------
"Mike - first off I just want to say thank you so much! The techniques
I learned from Butterfly Marketing played a BIG part in helping me make
$63,249 in sales in 24 hours!!
As I write this I'm still finding it hard to believe. It seems a
lifetime ago that the BFM package landed on my doorstep and I started
poring over it with my smile getting larger and wider with each new
insight as I realized that as long as I APPLIED what I was learning the
principles were going to make something BIG happen!
Little did I know just HOW BIG it would be when I launched AdSense
Videos...
AdSense Videos - 33 Hours After Launch..
The site went live. My life changed forever - seriously the results
have been incredible Mike - we've grossed over $200,000 in 7 days!! The
site got an Alexa ranking on Launch Day of 351!
AdSense Videos was ranked Number 1 on the ClickBank Marketplace in the
Marketing category just 4 days after the Launch!
I've also been getting, on average, one new subscriber every minute of
every hour for the past SIX AND A HALF DAYS!!!
So - What did I learn from you Mike and from Butterfly Marketing? Where
to start! I think one of the biggest things was the step-by-step
approach. Everything I created for Affiliates, Joint Venture partners
and for people going through the videos themselves has been
step-by-step. I made everything as easy as I could and 'muppet-proof'
as I like to call it!
I also realized that it's paying attention to the smaller details
BEFORE launch that really pay dividends AFTER the Launch. And BOY am I
seeing that!
You gave some absolute gems of advice in Butterfly Marketing which
have, without a shadow of a doubt, contributed in a big way to the
overall success of AdSense Videos.
Thanks again!
Michael Cheney"
----------------------------------------------------------
You too can have the same results as Michael Cheney by implementing the
tactics and strategies outlined in Mike Filsaime's Butterfly MarketingManuscript.

How to Market Affiliate Products Online

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Don't want to work for someone but wish to make an income at home selling their products for high commissions? Affiliate marketing is for you. There are many ways to do affiliate marketing. You have to be creative.

  Steps

  1. Learn about the product, use it, and see what its like. Rate it out of 10 and decide if other people would want it.
  2. Set up a domain and webhost so you can market their product.
  3. Use unique web pages to promote each separate product you are marketing. Do not lump all of it together just to save some money on web hosting. It is best to have a site focusing on each and every product and nothing more.
  4.   Always include product reviews on the website so visitors will have an initial understanding on what the product can do to those who buys them. Also include testimonials from users who have already tried the product. Be sure that these customers are more than willing to allow you to use their names and photos on the site of the specific product you are marketing
    •   You can also write articles highlighting the uses of the product and include them on the website as an additional page. Make the pages attractive compelling and include calls to act on the information. Each headline should attract the readers to try and read more, even contact you. Highlight your special points. This will help your readers to learn what the page is about and will want to find out more
  5. Join various programs you would rate 9/10 and begin marketing them online, set up web pages and use Google AdWords to promote your site.
  6. Write articles that are compelling, succinct, and get your customer thinking, "I've got to have this!"
  7. Promote, promote, promote! Keep promoting your site till you get a flood of traffic.
  8. Monitor your results every day for testing. Track every keyword.
  9.   Offer free reports to your readers. If possible position them at the very top side of your page so it they simply cannot be missed. Try to create autoresponder messages that will be mailed to those who input their personal information into your sign up box. According to research, a sale is closed usually on the seventh contact with a prospect
  10.   Only two things can possibly happen with the web page alone: closed sale or the prospect leaving the page and never return again. By placing useful information into their inboxes at certain specified period, you will remind them of the product they thought they want later and will find out that the sale is closed. Be sure that the content is directed toward specific reasons to buy the product. Do not make it sound like a sales pitch.
  11.   Focus on important points like how your product can make life and things easier and more enjoyable. Include compelling subject lines in the email. As much as possible, avoid using the word “free” because there are still older spam filters that dumps those kind of contents into the junk before even anyone reading them first. Convince those who signed up for your free reports that they will be missing something big if they do not avail of your products and services
  12.   Get the kind of traffic that is targeted to your product.Just think, if the person who visited your website has no interest whatsoever in what you are offering, they will be among those who move on and never come back. Write articles for publication in e-zines and e-reports. This way you can locate publications that is focusing on your target customers and what you have put up might just grab their interest.
  13.   Try to write a minimum of 2 articles per week, with at least 300-600 words in length. By continuously writing and maintaining these articles you can generate as many as 100 targeted readers to your site in a day.
  14.   Always remember that only 1 out of 100 people are likely to buy your product or get your services. If you can generate as much as 1,000 targeted hits for your website in a day, that means you can made 10 sales based on the average statistic
  15.   The tactics given above does not really sound very difficult to do, if you think about it. It just requires a little time and an action plan on your part.
  16.   Try to use these tips for several affiliate marketing programs. You can end maintaining a good source of income and surviving in this business that not all marketers can do.

  Tips

  • Write articles that review the product and then send the reader to your web page.
  • Driving traffic to your affiliate site is done just like any other site. Advertise your website, make sure that it is search engine optimized with good, specific keywords, and keep it up to date. As you are visited, your site will get more and more hits that will drive it higher in the search engine rankings.
  • Another way to drive traffic to your website is via PPC (Pay Per click). All you have to you do is find a a good PPC network and start sending traffic to your site for as low as 0.05$ USD per click. If you use PPC engines monitor closely what you are spending

  Warnings

  • You might have to spend money to do this marketing. Don't go overboard and spend all of your income on this, it might NOT work.

How to Make Easy Money

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

How do you make money without any skills, and without significant planning or preparation? You do not have to resort to deception or stealing. All of the following steps are easy and accessible to about anyone. Just remember that you get what you give, so don't expect to get rich--for that, you'll have to work hard and work smart! Read and learn!

  Steps

  1. Sell something.  Dig out that old guitar you never play, those CDs you don't listen to anymore, or your antique toy collections. Go to the pawnshop, put an ad on local internet classifieds, or  hold a yard sale in front of your house or on a busy street corner (just display the item with a big sign announcing the ridiculously low price).  Price items at half of what somebody would be able to buy them for anywhere else, and you may be able to sell them within an hour or two.  You can also sell items online at web sites like eBay, Amazon and Craig's list. Sell your gold and silver to pawn shops that really do sell your gold or silver.
  2.   Fill out surveys online. Companies who want to know what is on the minds of their customers are willing to pay for your opinion. Online surveys won’t make you rich, and won’t allow you to quit your day job, but you can make a little extra cash. When choosing between surveys, read the fine print. There is usually an asterisk near the "you won" part. This means you have to do something like buying stuff before you even get to talk about your prize. Don't fall into these sorts of traps, they are ridiculously difficult and not worth the time. In general, the more companies you sign up with, the more survey requests you’ll receive in your email and more opportunities you’ll have to make money.
  3. Panhandle. A panhandler is a person who depends on the spontaneous charity of strangers for their survival. If you really need the cash, you might swallow your pride and decide to ask for help. Make a sign, find a good location, ask politely for money, and say thank you. Cyberbegging is becoming increasingly popular, and there have been some amazing success stories, but these are the exception rather than the rule. While there are some sites on which you can beg just by putting up a brief ad, if you're looking to make any substantial money you'll probably have to build your own site and invest the time and money into it to make it successful.
  4.   "Donate" plasma. Plasma is a component of blood, and the process is similar to donating blood. You're not permitted to actually sell your plasma, but you can be compensated for your time spent donating (and essentially, it's like selling your plasma). Your blood is drawn, the plasma is separated, and the red blood cells are returned to your body. You can make US$20-30 per visit and give plasma twice a week, but you must weigh at least 110 pounds, be between the ages of 18 and 59, and be in good health.[1] Many college students do this to make extra cash.[2] If you haven't been to the doctor in a while, this may be a good way to get a free health checkup.[3]
  5. Enter sweepstakes. By choosing sweepstakes carefully, you can increase your likelihood of hitting the jackpot (or at least getting a few useful freebies that you can sell, as mentioned above). Search the internet-- there are even internet databases, some free and some by subscription only, that can clue you in to hundreds or thousands of sweepstakes. Sweepstakes with smaller prizes can be great because you generally have a more realistic chance of winning. Don't, however, waste your time entering a sweepstakes for a prize you don't want and can't easily sell for a good profit. Enter as many times as possible. The more times you enter, the better your odds. It's as simple as that. Before you send in a million entries, however, make sure you know how many entries the rules allow you.
  6. Sometimes you can go around looking for money! You shouldn't be too dependent on that, though. Enter contests like dog shows that give out prize money,or make a banking account. Then you'll get a little interest. Sometimes if you make a checking account you can get money for making a checking account.

  Tips

  • Never pay to join survey panels. All legitimate panels are free.
  • Do not share your credit card information with un-secure sites.
  • Ideally join affiliate programs that offer two tier commissions. That way you can refer your friends or other people who want to make money online. Then when they make a sale you'll earn a small percentage for referring them.
  • Open a separate bank account and separate your business money from your personal money.
  • Always: Instead of thinking of how you must cut down on expenses, think of new ways you can make more money (Without of course spending more money on things that are not necessary for living).
  • Don't obsess about making easy money. Keep a balanced lifestyle. Try not to think about making money, think first about how to help people and solving problems. Then you will figure out eventually that you can get paid for solving problems.
  • When a site has videos of testimonials, most likely they are actors. They are paid to make you give up your credit info, don't trust them.

  Warnings

  • The Internet can be dangerous. Don't always trust surveys you see online; whether you see the site from an advertisement added to this article by spammers, or in advertising programs on pages. Malicious survey sites may steal personal info or just simply install viruses on your computer.

How to Shop Online Safely

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

Shopping online has become apart of everyday life but many still worry  that their credit card details will land in the wrong hands. Online shopping is certainly here to stay and online security continues to advance.  There are arguments that shopping online can be safer than shopping over the phone or even in person, as you never hand your card details over to another person.  Just remember to follow these tips to help keep your online shopping a safe and secure experience.

  Steps

  1. Ensure that you know the identity, location and contact details of the online retailer.  There are many online companies whose brand name is instantly recognizable, such as Amazon.com. Additionally, many real life stores now include an online retailing arm as part of their retail services and you already know their reputations. It is important, however, to also establish the identity of lesser known online companies who do not have instant recognition or external store status. In this case, it is important to look for the name, company registration details for your country, contact details that include an e-mail, postal address and telephone number and also a clear indication of where the company's headquarters is based.
  2. Find out more about a company's reputation. After looking for these signs of identification, it is a good idea to also ensure that the company has a good online reputation. Do not assume that just because a store in the real world sells things one way that their online service will be as good. There might be a risk of lacking service back-up or returns policies etc. for online purchases that do not exist if you buy direct in the store.  Reputation can be checked via searches of the internet for comments from others on consumer review sites. Many reputable online companies allow people to rate their service and products on the site itself, for example computer and camera stores. You can read these reviews for yourself to make a decision. Another way to determine an online company's reputation is to check for complaints through a consumer affair's bureau, such as the Better Business Bureau. Such organizations can give you more details about a company, including any complaints. In addition, you can always phone or e-mail a company the first time you purchase something and ask questions.
  3. Find out about billing, guarantees and delivery before you buy. Always look for the additional costs and payment details prior to sending credit card details. Look for:
    • Packaging costs - these should be evident up front
    • Delivery costs - these should be evident up front
    • Whether you will be billed before or after delivery of the products
    • Whether you can track the item from the moment of purchase to arrival at your door - this will help alert you of any hiccups in the delivery
    • Whether the product comes with a guarantee or warranty for defects etc.
    • How you can return the product if it doesn't work or meet your expectations - look for information on the site about cancellations, returns and refunds. Print off a copy for future reference.[1]
    • Who will bear the cost of returning the item (postage, fees etc.)
    • If there is a cooling off period for large price items[2]
  4.   Read the site's privacy policy. Reputable companies will be open about how they collect data from you and what they do with it. Many now also belong to web-seal approval or trust mark programs that set out guidelines on the treatment of your information. Look for a privacy policy and learn about whether the company uses your information beyond the purchase transaction, for example, to email you with updates or deals etc. or if it passes on information to third party merchants. This is how you can end up getting spam mail if you are not careful. At the end of the day, you must make your own decision about how much information you are prepared to give.[3]
  5.   Only use secure websites if you are transferring funds via the site. Once you're happy with the company you are purchasing from, ensure that your credit card details are going to be processed using a secure connection. The most common form of secure encryption is known as Secure Sockets Layer, or SSL for short.  SSL encrypts data and breaks it up into small pieces so that the information can not be read by anyone wanting to intercept it.  To check that your place of purchase is using SSL or secure technology there are a few things to look out for in your Internet browser:
    •   Depending on your browser settings you may receive a message stating that you are entering a secure area.  The secure area normally begins on the first page where you enter personal details.
    • Most often the address bar in your browser will change from starting with http to https. The "s" indicates that the site is secure but note that often you won't see the "s" until you are on the order page itself.[4]
    • You can also look out for a padlock symbol in your browser symbolizing the page is secure. The padlock should be closed. If it is open, assume the site is not secure. [5]
    • An unbroken key may also be present on a secure website.[6]
  6. Take care when entering information. Be sure to enter the correct details when typing in your order. An incorrect address, amount of items or wrong item code can cause many difficulties. Always review the information before pressing send.[7]
  7. Use a credit card with online fraud protection.  Just in case all else fails it pays to know the policy for online fraud protection offered by your credit card company.  Many credit card companies offer protection against purchases made without your consent and have special clauses to include online purchases.
  8. Record purchase details. After purchasing your item, always record the details of the time time, date, receipt number and order confirmation. If you cannot print one off, take a screenshot as a form of proof of purchase.
  9. Be aware of email scams designed to part you from your credit card information.  Email scams that are designed to gather personal information such as passwords and credit card details are known as phishing emails.  The idea is that thousands or hundreds of thousands are sent out in the hope of reeling in unsuspecting victims and getting them to part with confidential information.  The emails appear to be from well known companies and can look quite convincing.  However, legitimate companies, including all banks, will never send you an email with a link requesting your login, password or credit card details.  If in doubt, type the web address of the company it relates to directly into the browser rather than following the email link.

  Tips

  • An increasing number of online stores now request a CVV or card verification number when making a purchase.  The CVV code is the small code shown on the signature bar on the back of your card.  Normally the last 3 digits of the code are required.  This is to prevent someone who has managed to get your name; card number and expiration date from being able to make purchases using your card.
  • Another security feature that credit card companies are using is to create another level of security by adding an additional password.  An example of this is Verified by Visa or Mastercard Secure Code.  This is an optional feature so only offers support with selected websites or payment processing systems.  If you activate the code and shop on sites that carry the logo, the check out process will require the password you set up in order to authorize your purchase.
  • Never send your credit card details through non-secure online methods such as via email.  Such methods will offer little protection.[8]
  • Credit cards tend to offer more protection than debit cards as they don't directly remove funds from your own bank account.  If a transaction goes under investigation or proves to be fraudulent, you may never end up out of pocket with a credit card providing your card issuer provides protection.
  • Some sites keep a record of adverse reports made about companies. A US site is the National Fraud Information Center (US).
  • If you are buying from another country, check such matters as the currency that you are paying in, exchange rates and the possibility of sales duties or taxes being levied on your purchase when it reaches you.[9] Also be sure that what you purchase from another country is legal in your country.
  • With first-time purchases, if you are unfamiliar with the site, you may want to test it with an inexpensive purchase to begin with.[10]
  • Take advantage of one-time-use *virtual credit cards offered by many card issuers.

  Warnings

  • Never allow open-ended credit charges. Always agree on the total that is going to be on your credit card.
  • Don't buy from retailers who will not give out their contact details or who do not give you satisfactory responses to your queries.

How to Make Money Online

from wikiHow - The How to Manual That You Can Edit

There are many business ventures that can be found on the internet. All it takes is some searching, imagination, and thinking about what type of service you can offer by reaching out to others, by way of the internet. In this article, we attempt to highlight some common ways to make money online. If you are a beginner, you can find very good assistance and startup knowledge.

  Steps

  1. Earn an affiliate income.
    • Although most would love to earn money this way, the reality is that most new internet marketers don't have a clue as to how to make money with affiliate marketing. Most marketers and so called gurus will tell you that it's simple and try to to sell you their product in an attempt to just make money. But really, affiliate marketing is about learning how to connect with your buyers on a more fundamental level, using unconventional strategies and techniques, mixed in with more conventional methods, such as Pay Per Click and Site Hosting.
    • There are a variety of different types of compensation plans that online programs use. With some you just get paid once for the sale. Others will pay you a recurring monthly income for making the sale. And other online programs will even pay you when the members you refer also refer other members. These are called multi-level compensation plans.
    • Make sure you get credit for the people that you refer otherwise it would be a wasted effort. This article is too short to go into static versus dynamic affiliate sites or cookie referral tracking systems. If the sponsor’s name shows on the affiliate site you may want to take note of it before you join then verify that he or she is your sponsor when you log in. If your sponsor received credit for you joining then you should too. A good sponsor should contact you after you have joined from their affiliate site offering help. If they don’t you may want to contact them.
  2. Sell information. There are many forms of information that you can sell on the internet, such as eBooks (digital books), digital reports, newsletters, or software. Virtually any product that is informative in nature can be sold on the internet as an information product. Here are some reasons why information products are a good choice to use to sell online:
    • Information products are easy to create and quick to market. This type of method does not take years to develop, nor does it require intense design meetings, nor is it expensive to manufacture. You can create information products in as little as a couple of hours and not long after they are posted, they are generating a source of revenue. All you need to begin this venture is a great topic and a computer.
    • Get a friend. As any experienced Internet affiliate marketer will tell you, having a friend who is experienced can be the best thing when you are starting out. They can help you avoid the worst mistakes and keep you out of debt. One way to get a friend like this is to join a forum, like Digital Point, which is full of Internet business people looking to help each other. Stay away from just buying ebooks, community programs like this one are sure to actually give you the help you need, and not leave you by the wayside with some scam program.
    • You do not have to stock or count inventory. This frees up space in your home or garage because you do not have to buy any products to sell to others. The product that you are selling is digital and the only space that it will be taking up is on your computer.
    •   Startup costs are minimal because when you create an information product the only investment you are making is the time it takes you to create the product. In addition, if you choose to become an affiliate marketer for someone else who wants to place his or her information product on your web page your investment is nothing.
    • Sales and delivery is automatic and is available 24 hours per day, seven days a week and you never have to close your doors. There are programs that allow you to completely automate everything from sales and deliveries to anything else that is needed to operate a successful information product business.
    •   It gives your customers immediate access or delivery of the product. For your customer there is no waiting for what they are looking for, especially if you have your business set up to automatically handle every aspect of the transaction.
    • Save costs because shipping and handling are non-existent for this type of business venture. The only type of shipping that is required on your part is to click your mouse and send the customer the information that they are looking for.
  3. Earn money with Google Adsense. If you have a blog or a website with a good number of visitors, Google Adsense provides an easy way to monetize your traffic. Figure out an unique idea and you will get a lots of visitors. You can for example search the Internet with keywords website ideas.
  4. Start an Internet auction business.
  5. Sell t-shirts online through Cafepress.
  6. Join a site where you get paid to click on ads.
  7. Sell stuff on ebay.
  8. Join an Exclusive or "Closed" Affiliate Program. A closed affiliate program is one that only allows current customers to promote the product. You have to be a product of the product. The great thing about an exclusive affiliate program is that is maximizes retention of customers so that you can continue to compound your earnings and achieve an income that you can count on every month.

  Tips

  • Research, investigate and know your product before doing anything else with it.
  • Use Yahoo Answers: If you are a website owner or have a blog, use Yahoo Answers to intelligently answer questions (without spamming) and leave your website address in the resource area. The more questions you answer, the more points you receive and the more exposure for your business you obtain which means more profits.

  Warnings

  • You should research any and all opportunities prior to diving in... You don't want to bump your head.
  • If you decide to try advertising, start low and build up slowly as you get more experienced. Many new businesses fail during start up by attempting to go too big, too fast.

Facebook and Consumer Learning Process

A great deal of successful marketing today depends on closely understanding consumer behavior. As a marketer, you may always be curious to understand what excites or motivates your customers into buying either your products or those of your competitor.  Depending on the buying and consumption cycle of your product, there can be several factors that will determine the sales conversion ratio for your product.

Toward Right Learning

A successful sale happens when your customer understands his need and is convinced that your product can satisfy that need in a reliable way.  Both these steps happen through a process, which is known as learning. Hence as a marketer, your job begins by ensuring that the customer perceives his need and, more importantly, finds the solution in your product

Right Learning and Right Conversations

At this very moment, you may be reading this article on your laptop or desktop. Remember the day when you had decided to buy your first computer. You must have considered many factors before finalizing which computer to purchase.  One of the important decision points for a buyer is his circle of reference. It is natural for you, as a buyer, to discuss with your informed friends about the best brand. Positive references from friends and acquaintances help one make a decision.

How has Facebook changed all of this?

Research has shown that buyers do a great deal of product research on the Internet and most of the time choose to purchase the product either online or offline. The power of the Internet as a research and information resource has been realized to a great extent by customers worldwide.

The basics of consumer behavior, learning, reference groups, and buying decisions have remained exactly the same. But what has changed significantly is the speed with which everything happens. Technology has brought down the barriers in global communication. Social networking sites, and more importantly the rising popularity of Facebook, bears a strong testimony to the growing power of the Internet as a mode of communication and a source of information.

Before and After Facebook

Like we discussed, most of the learning before the proliferation of Facebook and social media happened through advertisements on television.  During the days of conventional media dominance, marketing was driven by the power to broadcast. Marketing communication was primarily unidirectional through blaring advertisements and press releases.

Word of mouth happened on a one-on-one basis, where the conversation would begin and end around a small group of people.

Today, a search on your favorite brand on Facebook may reveal many conversations about the brand, which may depict user’s positive or negative experiences with the brand. Unlike the clandestine brand gossip of earlier days, the Facebook era ensures that conversations are documented and made easily available through social networking sites.

Brands trying to ignore this new medium find themselves in a state similar to an ostrich, with its head buried in sand, thinking the world cannot see it. The real image of the brand in people’s minds shows up aloud these days through conversations on Facebook.

Facebook and Online Reputation

The power of Facebook, as discussed, has extended the scope of Word of Mouth beyond the good old conversation between friends. Today, each and every Facebook user is free to publish his views on your brand. The true effect of this happens whenever these conversations appear in searches and influence people’s opinion about the brand image.

This is where online reputation, primarily on a widely accepted medium like Facebook, matters.

In a nutshell..
Managing a positive image of your brand requires you to expand your reach, more than what you would do in case of conventional media. The conversational nature of social networking sites, such as Facebook, demands a different approach. Unlike one-time broadcast by the conventional medium, Facebook stores each and every conversation and makes it available through the search option for anyone who is curious to know more about your brand.

That is the reason why it is a critical part of any brand plan to feature positively on social networking sites, such as Facebook. Engaging consultants who have experience in managing brands through the new era of social networks is a growing practice that can help brands manage the new wave.
